Daniel Stazzone
Daniel isn't just talking about housing - he's doing the work.
Daniel is a housing champion for every neighborhood. Because housing is a human right, his campaign is dedicated to opening doors across Syracuse. He has personally helped hundreds of homebuyers — many first-time and historically underserved — navigate the path to homeownership. That work includes preserving historic properties, revitalizing the Near Westside, and saving hundreds of homes from demolition. As Director of Sales and Strategic Initiatives at the Syracuse Land Bank, Daniel has helped return $2.6 million to Syracuse’s tax rolls while strengthening neighborhoods across the city.
Opening Doors Across Syracuse
neighborhood revitalization
Micro-neighborhood housing plans focus on revitalizing small areas block by block. HopePrint, a nonprofit on Syracuse’s Northside, has shown how this approach can work by helping residents create focused neighborhood plans and connect to existing resources. As Councilor At-Large, I will support neighborhoods across Syracuse in forming micro-based groups to develop revitalization plans and bring them to life.
Government Efficiency
Syracuse needs a simpler, more reliable permitting process that actually works for the people who use it. The city has taken steps to move permits online, but the system often doesn’t work as intended. As a result, homeowners and contractors face delays, confusion, and inconsistent answers to basic questions about city codes, slowing projects, discouraging proper permits, and hurting neighborhoods and city revenue.
Jobs and Public Transportation
Good jobs only create opportunity when people can actually get to them. As employers like Amazon and Micron grow, Syracuse needs reliable transportation, including Bus Rapid Transit routes that connect residents directly to these job centers. Transit should also be easy to use — when schedules and real-time updates are confusing or unreliable, people are less likely to rely on the system. Improving reliability and making the Centro app more user-friendly will help more residents access job opportunities.
city budget
Syracuse deserves a fair deal when it comes to funding. That means strengthening the City’s PILOT agreement with Syracuse University so it reflects the real cost of services, increases annual contributions, and ensures future property acquisitions contribute to the tax base. It also means addressing the imbalance in County funding, since many services used by all County residents — including homeless shelters and social services — are located in the City by design. If Syracuse is expected to host these services, the City must receive the resources needed to support them.
